Radio Drama Post Production analysis
Convention 1
0:03-0:06
At the beginning of our radio programme, we started with a Jingle FX with fun engaging music to get the listener hooked into the next show that is going to be played. This also signifies that the radio programme is going to start alongside the "You are now listening to: Chadwell Heath Radio" telling the listener what radio station they are listening to. This is to make the station fun and memorable for listeners.
Convention 2
10:08- 10:14
We had an on location interview about what they would do if they found someone struggling in a situation like the main character found herself in. You can hear the background noise of a kitchen; seemingly distracting but however it shows to the listeners that this is a genuine response from an interviewee that the producers went out to record. This is quite engaging to some listeners as the variety of different opinions may intrigue them as they would like to see what other people would think.
Convention 3
5:54- 6:18
Typically in dramas, music helps set the atmosphere of the programme. In our Radio Programme, we wanted to get the listener's attention to something that was going to be serious. In this scene when the guy asks her to send him some pictures of what she would be (any many like the listeners) reluctant to do. This is meant to connotate a dramatic effect to the listeners and to draw them in to what the girl would answer with. It also makes the scene seem more serious as the previous upbeat music faded out. Because of this, many might feel bad for the main character.
Convention 4
13:48- 14:20
This is the outro for our radio programme. This is wear we conclude everything and wrap the story up. After wrapping the story up, we finish with what we started with (going over what the radio does just in case someone tuned in) before fading out. At the end, we also thank the listeners for tuning in making them seem more included in the radio show as it is directed at them. At the end like other radio programmes, we give the listener information about what show is going to be aired next and why they should tune in to keep them on the channel.
